Recognition of Prior Learning

Turn Your Experience Into Recognition

RPL considers your existing skills, knowledge and experience against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. Outcomes depend on assessment evidence and demonstrated competency.

The process

Your RPL journey

A structured assessment process designed to identify what you can already demonstrate and where further evidence or training may be needed.

How assessment works

Who can apply

People with relevant existing skills, knowledge and industry experience may enquire about RPL.

Types of evidence

Evidence may include work samples, records, references, demonstrations and professional conversations.

Competency assessment

A qualified assessor reviews evidence against the relevant requirements.

Gap identification

If evidence does not yet address all requirements, the assessor identifies what remains.

Further evidence or training

Additional evidence, learning or assessment may be needed before reassessment.

Outcome

A qualification or Statement of Attainment is issued only where applicable requirements are satisfied.

If a gap is identified

Additional evidence or training may be recommended, followed by reassessment. An initial conversation can help you understand the process, but it does not guarantee an outcome.
